Let there be LIGHT
February 15th, 2017
Other than “pitting” the glass on the top of our oven (first summer of bottling jam…. trying to do a double batch that overflowed), it’s been an awesome oven. The only complaint? The light bulb burned out somewhere in the first three years or so. Here it is 16ish years later and we still hadn’t gotten a new bulb. It was hard to remember to buy one. Only thought of it when I baked something….. which we all know doesn’t happen all that often! (Not making a comment about that will be in your best interest!) ANYWAY! I finally get a bulb and I’m so excited!!!! And man… I got this! How hard can putting a light bulb in an oven be? Gotta be way easier than all the work to put in something to actually bake! I even got out the manual. Yep. I got this!
With the bulb in one hand and the screwdriver in the other I am minutes away from having a working light bulb in my oven. This will be saaaweeeet! So I got the cover off and then removed the worthless antique bulb. Half way done and I haven’t even broken a sweat! Now it’s time for the magical moment! And man…. was it MAGICAL!!!! I pushed in the new light bulb that would rock my world and started the spin that would bring light to my life! And let me tell you…. it certainly rocked my world and brought light to my world! There were sparks a flyin’ and a heart a racin’! And who knew I could move that fast!
The new light bulb was toast! But on the bright side (yes, pun intended)… my oven was out of commission. Guess it’s eating out time! 😉 So what happened next? The story of my life…. I called Grandma and Grandpa to the rescue. So come to find out, I didn’t actually have to remove the whole casing to the light bulb. Just the cover. However, it was a good thing I did it the way I did to discover that the wires weren’t really wrapped and placed properly. Yay for me and my efforts. Hold on while I pat myself on the back. Well…. the oven had to be pulled away from the wall, wires fixed, oven put back. Kody was the lucky one who got to crawl under the oven to unscrew and then screw it back to the wall. Safety first people! THEN… it was time for my amazing skills to be put to use. You got it… I had the honors of spinning in the new light bulb. Don’t worry, I was fully supervised. 🙂
